MONTANA GOVERNOR. ERIC: NEW THIS MORNING, FORMER IOWA STATE SENATOR RITA HART IS RUNNING FOR IOWA’S SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT. HART SERVED IN THE IOWA SENATE FROM 2012 TO 2016. MOST RECENTLY, SHE WAS THE RUNNING MATE FOR FRED HUBBELL IN LAST FALL’S GOVERNOR’S RACE. SHE SAYS SHE HOPES TO TACKLE HEALTH CARE AND THE COST OF EDUCATION IF ELECTED TO CONGRESS. Former Iowa State Sen. Rita Hart is running for Iowa's Second Congressional District.
Hart served in the Iowa Senate from 2012 to 2016.
Most recently, she was the running mate for Fred Hubbell in last fall's governor's race.
Hart says she hopes to tackle health care and the cost of education if elected to congress.
She wants to replace Congressman Dave Loebsack who announced last month that he's retiring and will not seek re-election.
The Democrat was elected seven times to represent the southeast portion of Iowa.
Loebsack's term ends January 2021.
