TERMINER DIRECTION THIS EVENING. ALYX: SOUNDS GOOD. NOW TO THE BIG HEADLINES IN THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK. HOSPITALS ARE TAKING A HUGE HIT BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC. A NEW REPORT SHOWS IOWA HOSPITALS LOST NEARLY HALF $1 BILLION IN THE FIRST SEVEN MONTHS OF THE CRISIS. THIS MORNING, THE U.S. SURPASSED YET ANOTHER DISTURBING RECORD. THE COUNTRY RECORDED OVER 241,000 INFECTIONS YESTERDAY, THE HIGHEST SINGLE-DAY TOTAL SO FAR. IT COMES AS CONGRESSIONAL LAWMAKERS RACE TO REACH A DEAL ON A NEAR TRILLION DOLLAR COVID-19 RELIEF PACKAGE. TOMMIE: THE IOWA HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION SAYS HOSPITALS ACROSS THE STATE OF IOWA ARE PROJECTED TO LOSE OUT ON HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. THE REPORT SAYS COLVIN 19 WILL HAVE A $433 MILLION IMPACT ON THE STATE’S HOSPITALS THIS YEAR -- COVID-19. NOW THE STATE IS CALLING FOR MORE FUNDING. PRESIDENT KIRK NORTH SAYS UNTIL MORE RELEASE COMES HOSPITALS , SHOULD START MAKING CHANGES TO THEIR OPERATIONS. KCCI provides a daily snapshot of the past 24 hours of statistics.As of 10 a.m. Thursday, the Iowa DPH website reports 264,115 confirmed cases statewide since Iowa’s outbreak began, with an additional 1,905 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. The Iowa DPH reported no additional COVID-19 deaths, keeping the state’s death toll at 3,451. Of Iowa’s pandemic-related deaths, COVID-19 is reported as the underlying cause for 3,169 deaths. For 282 Iowans, COVID-19 was a contributing factor to their deaths.The website said 2,947 of the state’s deaths involved Iowans with preexisting conditions.The Iowa DPH reports 141 COVID-19 outbreaks among long-term care facilities in the state, accounting for 5,688 of Iowa’s total positive cases. COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care facilities account for 1,135 of the state’s total deaths. Iowa DPH reports 701 hospitalizations, of which 136 patients are in intensive care units. Iowa hospitals admitted 96 patients in the last 24 hours, compared to 95 hospitalizations the day before. Of Iowa’s 99 counties, 40 report 14-day positivity rates at or above 15%. Nine Iowa counties report a 14-day positivity rate below 10%.According to the state’s website, a total of 1,305,950 Iowans received COVID-19 tests. Iowa’s average reported positivity rate is 13.5% over the last 14 days.Of the state’s confirmed cases, 208,681 Iowans recovered.
