Last Friday changed the course of reproductive healthcare and justice. It will now be more difficult and possibly dangerous in certain states to access care for abortions and non-viable pregnancies. The ruling will impact BIPOC, trans, and working-class communities. This ruling becomes broader and stronger when we put abortion in the context of the multiple systems of oppression based on gender, race, immigration status, class, sexual orientation, and other struggles for human dignity. I’m angry, disheartened, and honestly exhausted that bodily autonomy is even a topic of debate. The judicial system failed to represent and protect its people.   Employers and health plans now face new and unprecedented changes. Like many other organizations, Businessolver swiftly announced a medical travel reimbursement benefit for Solvers to offset the cost of medical travel. “With Solvers in 43 states, we understand and embrace our responsibility to support all Solvers in navigating work and life. Businessolver is a diverse employer, with nearly 1,500 employees representing a broad cross-section of personal, cultural, and spiritual beliefs… and we understand this ruling has implications for both the employees we support and clients we serve.” Empathy is at the forefront of our business and this announcement is deserving of the praise my colleagues and I have shared for our executive team.   Employers must address abortion through thoughtful programs and the right technology. Although my work for safeguarding reproductive justice and health equity reaches beyond my profession, I’m proud to champion a technology that makes healthcare more accessible.
