Community members packs meals to veterans homebound for Thanksgiving
CARES DAY SUNDAY MORNING DECEMBER 8. LAURA: THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND THE AMERICAN LEGION GROUP JOIN FORCES IN AN EFFORT TO HELP LOCAL VETERANS WHO ARE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THEIR HOMES BY PACKING THANKSGIVING MEAL PACKAGES. VETERANS ARE GETTING COMPLETE TURKEY DINNERS THAT WILL BE ABLE TO FEED A FAMILY OF SIX TO EIGHT PEOPLE. IN OVERWHELMING NUMBER OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND SHERIFF STEP 80’S SHOWED UP TO LEND A HELPING HAND TODAY. >> IT WAS VERY HUMBLING FOR ME TO SEE THE NUMBER OF FOLKS WHO SHOWED UP. WE HAVE A LOT OF VETERANS AT WORK IN THE SHARE OF SOPHIST. IT WAS GREAT FOR THEM AND THEY HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE BACK. LA

Community members packs meals to veterans homebound for Thanksgiving
Sunday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Polk City American Legion Riders joined forces to give back to those who sacrificed for their country. The groups came together to pack Thanksgiving meal baskets and delivered them to veterans who aren't able to leave their homes. The veterans received a complete turkey dinner that is able to feed a family of six to eight people. "It was very humbling for me to see the number of folks that showed up," said Sheriff Kevin Schneider, with Polk County. "We do have a lot of veterans who work in the Sheriff's Office and it was great for them and they had the opportunity to give back."
