History
Larry Rohatsch planted his first batch of grapes in 1998 on the property where he grew up. His intent? ...to explore the idea of winemaking. His parents, Ron and Nancy Rohatsch, watched with interest as their son explored this new venture. Choosing not to wait the three years it typically takes for vines to produce premium grapes, Larry chose to purchase grapes from other vineyards. He soon found himself knee-deep in juice, figuratively, of course.
In time, Larry entered different varieties of his homemade wines in local and national competitions with encouraging results. These successes were validation of what friends and family have long stated. Along with his parents, Ron and Nancy, Larry and wife Sheila founded Loess Hills Vineyard and Winery! Larry and Sheila welcomed the next generation of the Loess Hills family – their daughter Aubrey Lynn – in August 2010. They hope that she will love to stomp grapes along with the rest of the family!
