When we first started using the Lean construction process on our projects over ten years ago, Kassi was one of the first in our company to lead our teams through the learning process. Lean construction is ever-evolving, and in the spirit of continuous improvement, she is still our go-to expert today when it comes to the knowing the ins and outs of Lean construction techniques.
Lean construction seeks to improve efficiencies in the construction process. It is a method that fosters communication, knowledge sharing and common project goals, breaking down each construction trade's work into different parts and reorganizing it to minimize project time and maximize return on investment for our customers." - Kassi Colman
When she's not at work, Kassi enjoys working on her early 1900s home just north of Des Moines. She loves to spend time with her family, not only sharing with them her passion for construction, but also attending kids' sporting events. Hockey and soccer are family favorites.
Kassi's first project at The Weitz Company was constructing 333 E. Grand, also known as East Village Square, an apartment community. It was one of the first major buildings to start the rehabilitation of the East Village neighborhood in Des Moines.
She has also worked continuously with Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino, managing projects as small as installing doors to as large as renovating several of the casino's interior spaces.
