Iowa Gleaning Network

Who We Are

Established in response to the pandemic crisis in 2020, the Iowa Gleaning Network aims to reduce the amount of fresh produce that goes to waste unharvested in local farms and gardens, establish lasting relationships in our communities, and deliver fresh, nutritious produce to Iowans in need of assistance.

What We Do

The Iowa Gleaning Network holds gleaning events where our coordinators lead teams of volunteers in harvesting fresh yet 'imperfect' produce from local farms and gardens, and collects end-of-day leftovers at farmers markets, then we donate it to local food pantries and pick-up sites.

For opportunities to glean and distribute fresh produce in your area, please contact the Iowa Gleaning Network program nearest you. On our map of Iowa counties below, you will find IGN Gleaning Coordinator locations indicated by a black star, IGN member organizations indicated by dark green, and IGN Gleaning Service Range indicated by light green.
