The Orange Wizard, a bright-orange sour ale, will return to Confluence Brewing Co. this weekend, just in time for the Fourth of July.

Confluence
Brewing: This south-side spot will be re-releasing the Orange Wizard, a bright-orange sour ale, today. While trying it out, hang out on the patio or stay cool inside. There is also a takeout option if you want to take a brew to your next stop.
Fox Brewing: This West Des Moines brewery will be open with normal hours (12-7 p.m.) on the Fourth of July on Sunday. New on the July menu is the return of the Broken Lawnmower Shandy, a wheat beer blended with house-made honey lemonade.
Reclaimed Rails: For its fifth birthday, this Bondurant spot added We Got 5 On It, a sour with blueberry, acia and blackberry, to its menu.

The Des Moines Metro Opera summer season begins this weekend. “Sweeney Todd: The Demon of Barber Street” (pictured) will be performed at 7:30 p.m. today, followed by “The Queen of Spades” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, at Blank Performing Arts Center in Indianola. Learn more.

Yankee Doodle Pops
The Des Moines Symphony’s annual Yankee Doodle Pops show will be livestreamed on Iowa PBS and Iowa Public Radio throughout the weekend. Scores include the patriotic “1812 Overture” and “Stars & Stripes Forever.” Broadway’s Hugh Panaro will join to perform some favorites from popular musicals as well. Learn more.
